Services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. for Caroline Pechan, 86 of rural Browerville at Christ the King Catholic Church, Browerville,. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at the Iten Funeral Home, Browerville. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Browerville.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Crosby, Jim Pogreba, Russell Pechan, Doug Trana, John Pechan, and Gary Pechan. Arrangements were made by Iten Funeral Home, Browerville.
Mrs. Pechan died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 3, 1914 in LIttle Elk Township, Todd County to Mathias and Esther (Chase) Pechan. She was a lifelong resident of Little Elk TOwnship where she grew up and attended country school through the eighth grade. After her schooling she helped on the family farm. She married Harold Pechan Oct. 10, 1933 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Browerville. She lived the rest of her life on a farm in LIttle Elk Township where she was a home-maker, mother and helpmate. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, St. Theresa's Mission Circle and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, entertaining and feeding friends and family. She made quilts for all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, Nov. 17, 1977; her parents Mathias and Esther Pechan; sisters, Ruth, Mary, Kay, Josephine, Alice, Jeanie and Lea; and an infant brother.
Survivors include her children, Jim (Elsie) Pechan of Long Lake, Walt (June) Pechan of Lake Elmo, Don (Sherrie) Pechan of Browerville, Betty (Irvin) Crosby of Browerville, Vanette (Bill) Benz of White Bear Lake, Lorraine (Bob) Pogreba of Cushing and Louise (Dave) Trana of Ottertail; brothers, Matt B. Pechan of Browerville, Ray (Leona) Pechan of Eagle Bend and Ed (Sue) Pechan of Lodi, CA; sisters, Margaret Bacon of Prescott, WI and Adeline (Andy) Grecula of Rockford, IL; 41 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
