Mrs. Marry E. Browne Dead
Luling Texas, September 9.-Mrs. Mary E. Browne, mother of Mayor C. H. Browne, died in this city late yesterday evening, aged 74 years, 6 months and 8 days. Mrs. Browne was a most estimable lady, and leaves a large circle of friends and acquaintances, who are really grieved at her death. She was the mother of six children-Mrs. McGee of San Marcos, John S. Browne, of Lockhart, Mrs. L. C. Wilder, Mayor C. H. Browne and J. W. Browne of Luling and Mrs. Boaz of Fort Worth. Her husband, Rev. J. W. Browne, one of the most prominent Methodist ministers in the South, died only a few years ago. For over fifty years of ministerial service he was assisted and encouraged by the noble character and exemplary life of the deceased. The whole town mourn her departure and sympathize with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their great loss.
The funeral took place at 3 o'clock this evening at the city cemetery.
