Paul E. Swafford, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a descendant of one of the original pioneer families of McMinn County. He worked in the porcelain enamel industry for over 30 years. He was superintendent at Brown Stove Works and later worked as a sales and service engineer for PEMCO Products of Baltimore, MD, handling the southeast region. Mr. Swafford was a fifty year member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #134 F&AM and Chattanooga Scottish Rite.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Landon and Julie Poteet Swafford; brother, Edward Swafford and sister, Nora Clark.



He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Effie McReynolds Swafford of Cleveland; daughter, Mary-Ellen Loveless and husband, Jonathan of Athens, GA; grandson, William Coleman Loveless of Athens, GA; brothers: Winston Swafford, Horace Swafford and wife, Edith all of Riceville, and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with Steve Swafford, Donald Swafford, Mike Myers, Beau Matthews, Roy Quinn and Aaron Keller will be serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony concluding the service.



His family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 5:00 P.M and from 12-2 P.M. Monday prior to the service.
