He was a native of Fort Blackmore, Va., a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was ordained into the Nazarene Church ministry in 1955, serving in various ministerial duties. His congregations included Churches of the Nazarene in Greenville, Kingsport and Bristol, Tennessee. The Rev. Dingus was very active in the building and expansion of churches, congregations and evangelical programs in all of his church callings.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hamilton Dingus; three daughters, Linda Templeton, Corpus Christi, TX, Susan Blevins, Bristol TN, and Melissa Dingus, Overland Park, KS.; two sons, David Dingus, Dallas, and Steve Dingus, Atlanta; a brother, Cecil Dingus, Kingsport; a sister, Gracie Dingus Sams, Kingsport; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
