Bernice Lydia Murray Crawford, 83, of Bryan, passed away on September 2, 2010. Services are set for 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 6, at A & M Church of Christ, in College Station, Texas, with Dr. Foree Grove officiating. Private interment will follow in Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 5, at Hillier Funeral Home.

Bernice was born on February 15, 1927 in Velasco, Texas, to Roscoe Harvey Murray and Lydia Mariam (Murray). She graduated in 1944 from Freeport High School and worked for Dow Chemical. In 1947, she earned her B.S. degree from the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in Journalism, minoring in English. While at the University of Texas, she was a Bluebonnet Belle and met her future husband, Paul B. Crawford. After marriage, Bernice worked in Dallas as an advertising executive for a fashion magazine. She also traveled and worked as a freelance writer for Dan River Products, specializing in high quality linens. In Dallas, she studied oil painting and her works were displayed at several art exhibits. Paul and Bernice Crawford moved to Bryan, Texas in 1951. Later in life, Bernice worked as a real estate agent/broker for over 25 years at Aggieland Realty, Apex Realty and Classic Realty. She was an avid reader and loved oil painting and playing bridge. She was also a member of The Oaks Garden Club of Bryan, Texas. Bernice was a big fan of Houston Astros baseball. She enjoyed traveling with her family. More than anything, Bernice loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of A&M Church of Christ and a lifelong prayer warrior for her loved ones.

Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Paul B. Crawford, and brothers Henderson and Thomas Murray.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca (Crawford) and husband B. Don Russell of College Station, Janice (Crawford) and John E. Hall of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Patricia Crawford of College Station; brother Roscoe Murray of Lincolnton, North Carolina; grandchildren Christyn (Russell) and husband Brian Russell, Jennifer (Russell) and husband Tim Winter, John Paul Russell, Elizabeth (Russell) and husband Garrett Latham, Nathan Hall and wife Melissa, Jared Hall and wife Erin, Sara Hall, and Benjamin Thomas Sims; great-grandchildren Rebecca Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Alexander Taylor, Caleb Winter, Timothy Winter, Pierson Hall and Macy Hall. She also leaves behind many other beloved family and friends.
