Before retirement, he was a supervisor in the citrus industry.
He served in the Marine Corps and survived the Battle of Iwo Jima, going ashore on the first day of the invasion and not leaving until the battle had been won 36 days later.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Marine Corps League.
Survivors include his sons, Samuel, Melvin & Julian Croft; daughters, Gail Winer & Beth Dozer; brothers, E.C., George & Mark; sister, Edna; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters & 1 brother.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be at 10a Sept. 10 at Ryanwood Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church in Vero Beach, followed by a military service at Memorial Island in Vero Beach. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
Arrangements are by Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce.
