MRS. WILLIAM F. MERRILEES
Mrs. Stella Merriles, formerly of Springfield, died at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va., where she had been a patient for the past several weeks.
Mrs. Merriles had been in failing health for the past six years. She attended Wittenberg College and reportedly taught school in this area for 15 years.
Mrs. Merriles and her husband, William F., had also made their home in Huntington and Elkins, W. Va., before moving to Harrisonburg.
She was born in Summerford, O., the daughter of James H. and Anna C. Clingan, and was a member of the Harrisonburg First Presbyterian Church and Circle No. 5 of the church. Mrs. Merriles was also a charter member of the Kinsington Garden Club, which she helped to organize.
Survivors, other than her husband, include a number of cousins.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph Sefcik. The family will receive friends following the service. Her body will be taken to London, O., with burial to follow in the Summerford Township Cemetery, Madison County.
