Verna L. Bickel

Verna L. Bickel, 88, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, May 24, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital.

She was born in Middlebury, Indiana, on January 11, 1920, to Edwin D. and Lydia (Egli) Miller. She married Edward "John" Bickel on October 5, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fish Lake. He survives.

A lifelong resident of Elkhart County, Mrs. Bickel worked in the assembly department at CTS Corporation for 34 years before retiring in 1983. During her retirement she worked part-time at Greenfield Herb Garden in Shipshewana.

Mrs. Bickel was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Quarter-Century Club at CTS.

She is survived by her husband, John, and a sister, Leola Plank of Milford.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Nelson, Emma Birky and Sadie Yoder; and nine brothers, Harley, Elmer E., Ora E., Alvin K., Clarence, Roy, Edwin, Raymond and Ralph O. Miller.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the funeral home.

A 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Bert Pauluhn of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Fish Lake.
