Gwen was the daughter of Shelton and Susie Mathers Padgett.
She graduated in the Class of 1941 at Avalon High School,marrying her high school sweetheart the next day, his name was Thomas Paul Tapp.
She worked at several jobs in her lifetime besides being a wife, homemaker and mother to 4 children,Jerry Paul,Donnie,Sharon and Ronnie.
She was preceded on death by her parents, her husband Paul, a sister and husband ,Vivian Athale Bryan and Joe,a brother-in-law Erwin Schulze, an infant daughter and a granddaughter Melissa Ann Tarpley.
She is survived by: A sister-Ramona Schulze,3 sons: Jerry and wife Sandy of Whitewright,Texas,Donald and Joyce of Waxahachie and Ronnie of Waxahachie,a daughter and husband,Sharon Tarpley and Tony of Red Oak ,Texas.
8 -GrandChildren; Shonda Tapp of Dallas, Tonya Davis of Mckinney,Jeff Tapp and wife Mendy of McKinney,Derron Tapp and wife Lori of Italy,Luann Osmer and husband Tony of Maypearl,Riley Richardson of Bristol,Melody Tarpley and fiancee Lee Christopher of Fort Worth,Cody Tarpley and wife Rachel of Mansfield.
11- Great Grand Children:Steryln Tapp,Callie Davis,Ashley Davis,Giselle Tapp,Rowan Tapp,Tanner Osmer,Lyndsey Osmer, Zac Mercer,Elexis Wilsford, David Wilsford,and Madison Wilsford.
Several neices, nephews,great neices and nephews and a host of extended Mathers relatives.
Pallbearers will be: Jeff Tapp,Derron Tapp,Riley Richardson,Tanner Osmer,Cody Tarpley,and Robert Conder.

She was a life long member of Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie,Ellis County,Texas.
The 2 jobs she enjoyed most was working at Jan's Dress Factory and Conder's Day Care. She retired at the age of 83 from Conder's Day Care after a health issue..The years following her retirement she often reminenced her fond time of working with Bruce,Nita and Robert and watching after all the little children.
She enjoyed cooking, insisting on cooking most all the food for the family get togethers,and loved working in her yard and flowers,she always had a garden until age wouldn't allow it.
Her husband died the day after Easter in 1990 and she met him in heaven on Easter Sunday,2012.
