Ole Lars Eide was born April 19, 1858 in Jondal Hardanger, Norway. He departed this life March 20, 1938, in the General hospital in Geneva, Neb., having attained the age of 79 years, 11 months and 1 day.

The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at his family church in Jondal.

In his youth he became a member of the Norwegian Army by conscription and served as an officer for some time.

In 1877, at the age of nineteen, he came to the United States, where he soon enrolled in a college at Dixon, Ill. After attending this college three years, he came to Nebraska.

In 1888 he took a homestead in Chase county. Two years later he came to Fillmore County to take up farming. He had been a resident of Fillmore County for the last forty-eight years.

In 1893 he was united in marriage at Grand Island to Mary Rasmussen of Hazard, Neb. To this union nine children were born. His wife and five children preceded him in death.

He is survived by four children, Mrs. John Bauman of Carleton, Mrs. Elmer Sanders of Bruning, Olaf Eide of Kingston, Ill., and Maurice Eide of Ohiowa, also seven grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister who live in Norway also survive.

A short service was held at 2 o'clock, March 22, from the W. A. Philippi funeral parlor with Rev. W. F. V. Churchill in charge. Members of the Lutheran choir, Misses Cecil Most, Martha Folkerts, Irma Philippi and Mrs. Rudy Meyer sang with Mrs. Albert Bahe accompanist. Interment was at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery
