Mrs. Nan Uhles, 72, dies on Tuesday at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Nan Uhles, 72, who died at her home near Chestnut Mound on Tuesday were conducted Wednesday by the Rev. Phocian Gibbs at New Macedonia. Burial was in the New Macedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Bush, Alvin Vaden, John Fletcher, Ware Cowan, Watt Armistead, and James Fetcher. Mrs. Uhles, who was born October 22, 1869, professed faith in Christ at an early age, and was looked upon in her community as a faithful church goer and was beloved by all who knew her. She was born Nan Denny. She was married to Tom Uhles, and to the union one son, Willie Uhles, who lives on the place. After the death of a sister, Mrs. Uhles reared her nephew, Herman Uhles, who died in action during the last World War. Loyal, faithful, and trustworthy, Mrs. Uhles was regarded as an outstanding citizen of her community. She was ill some time before her death. Survivors, besides her son, are two sister, Mrs. Mandy Denny and Mrs. Mary Sullens, and two brothers, Arie and Arthur Denny of California."
