Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home
HUNTSVILLE — Joe Mac Henry was born on March 6, 1929, at Austonio, in Houston County, Texas, to William Herman Henry and Melissia Angeline Allee Henry.

Joe Mac's parents moved the Henry family to Huntsville the winter of 1932 with expectations of having better schools and better roads. At a very young age Joe Mac married Mayme Dell Gladden from Stephens Creek, in San Jacinto County, Texas, on Aug. 3, 1945. This was a great day for Mayme Dell and Joe Mac. The marriage was a bond of love that lasted until death ... 65 years

Joe Mac's career was automobiles. First with Kaiser Frasier and Studebaker, with Q.C. Robbins Motor Co. from 1947-1954. Then in 1954 he went to work for Wood Motors, Inc selling Fords. Joe Mac's sales with Ford Motor Co. were far above average – receiving outstanding recognition from Ford year after year. In 1965, he was recognized by Ford Motor Co. as being one of the Most Outstanding Ford Salesmen in the United States. Customer satisfaction was very important to Joe Mac.

In 1972, Wood Motors became Moore-Henry Motors, Inc. The dealership was owned by Joe Mac and Frank Moore. Mr. Moore retired in 1984 and Joe Mac became Dealer Principle of the organization. In 1996, Joe Mac successfully sold the dealership and retired, as he was facing failing health.

Joe Mac and Mayme Dell accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in 1951, and were baptized at the First Baptist Church in Huntsville. Joe Mac was a Baptist Deacon and was ordained on Dec. 17, 2000, at Calvary Baptist Church in Huntsville.

Joe Mac was a member in good standing in the following organizations: Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce for over 50 years; Huntsville Lions Club International for over 50 years, a term as President and several years as Program Chairman, and Lion of the Year; Sam Houston Shrine Club since its inception, serving as President two terms; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd degree for many years; Arabia Temple AAONMS of Houston, Texas, for many years; Forrest Lodge 19 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Texas, for over 50 years; The Gideon's International for many years; Life Member of the Walker County Fair Association. He also donated 14 scholarships to the Walker County Fair Queens.

For 22 years, with the help of Lions Club, family, and employees, set up a Pledge Center and Collection Center at Moore-Henry Motors for M.D.A. each Labor Day, 24 hours for Jerry's Kids, and collected lots of money to benefit crippled children.
