Darlene M. Thorne, 54, of East Jordan, died Sunday, July 16, 1995 at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Funeral services were held July 18 at the Paullin Funeral Home, East Jordan. Rev. Peter Elliott and Rev. Ralph Williams officiated with interment at Morehouse Cemetery, Echo Township, Antrim County.
She was born April 29, 1941 in East Jordan, the daughter of Percy and Dorothy (Weiler) Bennett. On September 10, 1989 in Boyne City, she married Cedric (Ced) Thorne. He died on March 14, 1992.
Darlene was a member of both the Missionary Church in East Jordan and seventh Day Adventist Church in Boyne City. She was also a member of the "Get Together Club".
Darlene enjoyed helping people and working at Care & Share in East Jordan and Seventh Day Adventist Community Service Center in Boyne City.
She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, and croqueting, as well as entertaining at home.
She is survived by her father, Percy Bennett of East Jordan; one brother, David Bennett and his wife, Debra, of Cedar Rapids; one sister-in-law, Jean Bennett Lent and her husband, Red, of East Jordan; four step children, Diane Lowe and her husband, Al, of Chester, Va., Joyce Brady of Belleville, Linda Barber and her husband, John, of Waterford, and Jeffery Thorne of Lake Orion; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy M. Bennett in 1994; one sister, Gail Lynn Bennett in 1953; and one brother, Glenn Bennett in 1977.
Memorials may be given to the East Jordan Missionary Church or the Boyne City Seventh Day Adventist Church.
