MRS. JAMES NEWELL, the former Ethel Mattingly, 5613 Morrison, died at 8:40 A.M. Saturday at Norton Memorial Infirmary. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church, and a native of Leitchfield. Her husband died in 1934. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William Mitchell and Mrs. Joseph Crume; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Edgar Kircher; a stepson, Fred Newell; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8:30 A.M. Monday at Emerson Funeral Home, 4601 S. Sixth, and at 9 A.M. at St. Thomas More Church. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery.
