Daniel Dean Abernethy, 19, of 634 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, died Friday, May 7, 2004, at home. Born March 13, 1985, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Michael Lee and Beverly Ann Till Abernethy, with whom he resided.
He was a 2003 graduate of Lebanon Catholic School and played on the baseball, soccer and bowling teams. He was listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students"; was a United States National Honor Roll member; and won a first place award in Photography in the 2002 Scholastic Art Competition. He had been an outstanding student at Lebanon Catholic, where he received academic awards in science and computer programming and a Faithful Services to the Missions Award. He also received the 2000 President's Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. He earned varsity letters in soccer in 2001 and 2002. He enjoyed music, cars, hockey and playing guitar. He was attending Tri-State University in Angola, Ind.; and was a member of St. Cecilia Church.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are maternal grandmother M. Lucille Till of Lebanon; paternal grandfather Robert Rogers of Lebanon; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, with visitation beginning at 9. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home, Lebanon, is handling arrangements.
