George S. Elias Ed.D. 84, of Worcester, passed away on Sept. 3, 2010 at UMASS after a sudden illness. Born Aug. 18, 1926 in Boston, he was the second eldest son of the late Selebe and Nora (Shaheen) Elias. He was raised in the South End of Boston, attended Suffolk University where he earned his undergraduate degree, and graduated from Boston University earning both his Master of Arts and Doctor of Education degrees consecutively. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Elias served thirteen months in the Philippine Islands during WWII. Dr. Elias was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years Elizabeth "Betty" (Nanof) Elias, and brothers Louis and Philip Elias, and sister Anne Handy.
