Cody John Murphy, 15, of North Platte died Sept. 4, 2010, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Christian wake services were at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte. Services will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte with the Rev. James Golka as celebrant.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery.Cody was born Sept. 6, 1994, in Grand Island, to David T. and Rose Bell Murphy.Survivors of the immediate family include his parents, David and Ann Murphy of North Platte and Rose and Darrel Elgert of Dannebrog; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Desiree and Amber, and Krystyna and Ethan Schmid; stepbrothers Tyler, Justin and Tanner Barnum and Zach Elgert; and his grandparents, Marion and Shirley Murphy of Grand Island, Dennis and Bea Fiala of Grand Island and Archie and Jean Bell of Iowa.
Also surviving are a nephew, Riley Schmid, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Cody was a sophomore at North Platte High School and was active in football and track. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and anything involving the outdoors. He loved his Boy Scout adventures. Cody will be remembered as a loving person who always wanted to please others, was always caring toward others and who loved to make people laugh.He was preceded in death by his step-grandparents, Ted and Margaret Baumgartner.
