Ara D. Brown, Beech Employe, Dies at Hospital

Ara Doyle Brown, 59, of 137 1/2 N. St. Clair, died Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital. He had been a Wichita resident for nearly 30 years.

Born Nov. 1, 1898, at Grand River, Iowa, he came to Wichita from Wellington, Kan. He married Fern Froman April 23, 1920, at Medford, Okla. Active in baseball, he played in the Western Association prior to 1920, and later in Wellington and Wichita.

He was employed at Beech Aircraft Corp. at the time of his death and was a member of the Beech Supervisers' Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons; Bill, 2720 Litchfield, Harold, 1418 N. Poplar, and Robert D., San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Permelia Mae Howard, Middlesex, England, and Mrs. Aramelle Gray, Albany, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Street, Grand River; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cochran Funeral Home. The Rev. James W. Teener, pastor of West Side Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Kechi Cemetery.
