Bert married Flora Greig on 31 Oct 1925, her thirty-fourth birthday. Flora passed away in July 1975.

Bert remarried on 19 Jan 1980 to Mrs. Vera Beatrice Weeks Dobson (1909–1999), also her second marriage. Glenn Gould declined to be his best man and did not attend the ceremony; he was disturbed by the marriage, which strained his relationships with his father and some other family members.
