Thomas Francis Lucy was born in Bredons Nortin Hall Perish, Worcester England,on June 7 , 1844 (Chi Phi Centennial Memorial Vol., 1924), the son of Henry and Sarah Hooke Lucy. Thomas came to America at the age of ten years and grew up in the town of Corning ,N.Y..He attended Hobert Collage,Geneva, N.Y.. Received his M.D. from the Eclectic Medical College in N.Y.C..and settled in Elmira,N.Y.. He married Josephine Searl of Ashland Township Chemung Co.,N.Y.. and had two daughters.He collected thousands of botanical specimens in the Chemung River Valley, N.Y. for 30 years (1868-1900).
