Alexander Biby was born at Virginia on March 31, 1827 and died at the home of his nephew, Mark E Biby at Mulkeytown on last Friday after being sick for the past two or three years and was, at the time of his death 85 years, 2 months and 14 days old.
He was a pioneer settler of this state, having settled in Franklin county when but a young man. He married to Miss Ruth Kirkpatrick in the year of 1848 and five children were born to this union, four of whom remain to mourn this kind and loving father, who are three sons, John C., Elbert W and Julius A Biby of this city and one daughter, Miss Sarah Biby of Los Angeles Calif. besides a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply mourn his loss.
He fought with the thirteenth Ill., and served throughout the war and helped fight many battles for our old flag. His death was due to old age and he had been failing in health for the past few years but was at last called, and departed this world of ours. He had made his home throughout this vicinity for the past sixty years and had lived in several different towns in this part of the state since that time.
....
Funeral services were held at the cemetery Saturday afternoon at two o'clock and the pall bearers were composed of his grandsons after which the remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Elbert W Biby was unable to attend the funeral of his father as he was in Los Angeles Calif. at the time of his death and it was impossible to keep the body until he arrived.
