CIVIL WAR VET OF NEW TROY PASSES AWAY
Justice M. Allison Dies At 85; Funeral To Be Held At Hartford
NEW TROY, Dec. 16 -- The ranks of Weesaw township’s Civil war veterans were clipped to one survivor with the death last night of Justice M. Allison, 85, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sam Ritchie.

The deceased was also well known in Van Buren county.

The single old soldier surviving in Weesaw now is William Hanover.
Mr. Allison was born in 1846 in Adams county, Illinois, and served as a volunteer in the 78th Illinois infantry. He came to Michigan as a young man and settled near Hartford. Until his death he resided in that city and New Troy. The past six years he lived with his daughter.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Ritchie home. The Rev. Leon Manning, Three Oaks Methodist pastor, officiates. Burial will be in Hartford. Six grandsons will be casket bearers.

Mr. Allison is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ritchie and Mrs. Limer Brown of Niles; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Poll and Mrs. Maggie Marvin, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
