A. W. Philhower died Sunday morning at the Masonic home at Sullivan, aged 72 years. Funeral and burial services were held at Mattoon Monday. Mr. Philhower, who was a native of Ohio, came to Windsor about the time the Wabash railroad was built at this place. He built the Windsor hotel building and conducted it for 15 years, being ably helped by his wife. Mr. Philhower was a splendid citizen in every sense of the word. For the last few years both he and his wife have been in poor health and they have been members of the Masonic home. Two years ago he was stricken with paralysis. He was the grandfather of Mrs. W. A. Ricketts, who is his only surviving descendent. Windsor Gazette - 2 Apr 1908
