Thanks and Blessings to all who visit my sister's site! If you would be so kind, please leave a token for her. She is deeply loved and missed and your kind remembrances provide comfort. Thank you.

Wilma Joyce Cheatham was born on October 13, 1946 to the late Deacon William Edward and Deaconess Willa Lee Cheatham. She departed this life early Saturday morning, September 9, 2000.

Joyce, as called by those who loved her, was a graduate of Belleville High School and the Essex County College School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse by University Hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Joyce worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for many years until she became disabled.

At an early age, Joyce accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by the late Rev. Henderson Edward Goldston, Second Baptist Church, Belleville, N.J. She was an active member of the Sunday School, the Busy Bee's Youth Choir, and the Junior Gospel Chorus. Joyce also served as the church organist.

In 1980, Joyce joined the Messiah Baptist Church in East Orange, N.J. under the pastorate of Rev. Harry L. Batts. At Messiah, she was a member of the Celestial Choir. In later years, Joyce moved to Fanwood, N.J. and became an active member of the Miracle Baptist Church, the Rev. John Terry, pastor. She was a beloved member of the Miracle Baptist Church family and received special awards in recognition of her outstanding Christian service.

Joyce was an extremely loving and devoted daughter, sister, godmother, and friend. She will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves to cherish her memory a brother, William E. Cheatham, Jr., Newark, N.J., three sisters, Julia Kelly (David), Irvington, N.J., Sandra A. Cheatham, Conyers, Ga., Patricia E. Cheatham, Fanwood, N.J.; three nieces, Alisha R. Robinson (Tony), Philadelphia, Pa., Tracy E. Kelly, Irvington, and Tiffany J. Grevious to whom she was also a wonderful godmother, Conyers, Ga.; four nephews, David Kelly, Jr., Irvington, N.J., Edward Cheatham, Brandon Cheatham, and Terrance Cheatham all of Newark, N.J.; a great-nephew, Jeffrey A. Kelly, Irvington, N.J., and a host of other relatives and friends.

"And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13
We love and miss you! Oh that we could be in your presence.
"Sleep on... We will see you again!"

TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me. Let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be
happy, we had so many years.

I gave you my love and you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I traveled alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless those memories in your heart.

I won't be far away for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
with all my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and
"Welcome You Home!"
