Thaddeus is recognized as a patriot by the Daughters of the American Revolution by serving in the Revolutionary War. In 1947, a ceremony was held at his gravesite by the DAR and a marker with an American flag placed recognizing his DAR status.

He received his "40 acres and a mule" in Vinton County, OH at the age of 63, and died on his land at the age of 76. He was buried on the spot where he died, which is now alongside of State Road 328 near McArthur, OH in Vinton County.

His grave is well-maintained by the family who lives across the road and receives many visitors. Family members may view and leave contact information for each other in a small box clipped to the fence around the grave.
