Joyner died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday in Methodist Hospital after a long illness.

The retired cotton ginner was born in Big Spring. He moved to Lubbock in 1953 from San Angelo. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie Lou; a son, James Earlan (sic) of Leander; two daughters, Mrs Ria (sic) Vestal of Lubbock and Mrs Charlotte Cummings of Lubbock; a stepson, Kenneth Rogers of Lubbock; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Nalene Ratliff of Riverside, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
