Duie Barlow married B. F. Adams on April 23, 1891. In 1910 she had had seven children and five were living. Listed in Shelby County, Texas, in the 1910 federal census are Benjamin F. Adams, 53, wife Drucilla, 44, and children John F., 18, Lawrence, 17, Mary C., 15, Luther, 12, and Annie L., 10. Mrs. B. F. Adams had been a member of the Center Ridge Baptist Church for many years. "[S]he was known over the entire community for her charity and for the assistance that she gave so willingly to the sick and unfortunate of the neighborhood."
She was found dead at her home. Funeral services were held the next day at Center Ridge Cemetery. Survivors included 2 sons and 2 stepsons: John and Luther of Hurst Town, Willie of Hemmington, and Jesse of Choice; and 2 daughters: Mrs. Annie Liem of Beaumont and Mrs. Mary Gryder of Marshall; also several grandchildren.
