DEATH OF EDMUND H. BEARDSLEY
On the evening of May 30th, occurred the death of one of the early settlers of Greene, Edmund H. Beardsley.
He was born in the town of
coventry, July 2d, 1820, thus being at the time of his death nearly 72 years of age. When about seven years of age his parents moved into the town of Greene, where he spent the remaining years of his life.
He was married Sept 8th, 1857, to Mary Rosa, who survives him. Three children were born to them, Eugene, Ray, Amodell, now Mrs. Barton, all of whom remain to mourn his loss.
When the country was a wilderness, Mr. Beardsley entered upon the task of clearing up a farm in the north eastern part of the town. This he accomplished owning at the time of his death one of the best farms in the town.
A number of years ago, during the pstorate of Rev. D. D. MacLaurin, he was converted and joined the Baptist church of Brisbin, and was an honored member at the time of his death.
Mr. Beardsley was an honored and respected citizen, a good neighbor, a loving husband, and a kind father.
The funeral services were attended from his late home June 1st, at eleven o'clock, Rev. W. C. Gates of
Greene officiating.
