GALENA, Ill. -- Isobel M. McPhail, 99, of Galena, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at United Methodist Church, Galena, with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on March 21, 1911, in Platteville, Wis., daughter of Joseph and Hattie (Balbach) McPhail.

Isobel was formerly employed as director of the Galena Historical Museum. She also worked in the Jo Daviess County Treasurer's office during tax season.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Galena and the United Methodist Women. She was past noble grand of the Galena Rebekah Lodge, past president of the Galena Women's Club, former music director of the Galena Community Christmas Concerts, and past director of the Junior Choir of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving are cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
