Roland E. Hitchcock, 75, Burney, died Wednesday morning at 4:55 a.m. at the Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus, having been in failing health for 8 months.
Mr. Hitchcock was born March 11, 1906, in Hope, the son of George and Eliza Shepherd Hitchcock.
He was married to Vey Minor and she procedes him in death in 1971. He retired in 1971 after 29 years in the employ of the Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus.
He was a member of the Burney United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 2 children; a daughter Mrs. Joe Clouse, Hope, and one son, William Hitchcock, Columbus; five grandchildren; three brothers; Harry Hitchcock, Hope, Lewis Hitchcock, Leesburgh, and Kenneth Hitchcock, Sebring, Fla.
The service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Norman Funeral Home in Hope with burial in the Hope Moravian Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and until time of the service on Friday.
