Lawrence "Jim" Cowan Jr., formerly of Neelyton, died at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.
Born November 1, 1925, in Burnt Cabins, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Mock) Cowan.
He is survived by a daughter, Stina Sorenson, Grantsville, Utah; a stepdaughter, Donna Piper, Shade Gap; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a life member of Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the fire police.
He was last employed in bridge construction and, prior to that, in the lumber industry.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Mike Purnell officiated. Burial was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap.
