Arthur Herman Self

Arthur Herman Self, age 44, died suddenly Friday morning, June 4, at Tyler Holmes Hospital. He was a native of Carroll County but lived in Winona and was a landscaper for Lancaster, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Burchfield Self of Winona; his father, Rufus Dean Self of Vaiden; two step-daughters, Mrs. Nancy Hatcher of Batesville and Mrs. Sally Hodges of Winona; one son, Freddie Bell Self of Tyler, Texas; one step-son, Joe Holley of Durant; three sisters, Mrs. Maydeen Phillips of Greenville, Mrs. Bobbie Suddeth of Vaiden, and Mrs. Ann Pippen of Lake Providence, La.; and six grandchildren.

He was a veteran, a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Funeral services were held at Oliver Chapel, Saturday, June 5, 1976 at 3 p.m. with Rev. J. A. Wade officiating. Burial was in the Vaiden Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Billy Holly, Tommy Holly, Charley Upchurch, Ralph Self, Roscoe Self, and J. B. Bailey.

Honorary pallbearers were Dick Grice, Billy Lancaster, Devere Lancaster, Devoe Lancaster, Bob Lancaster, Clarence Lott, Billy Joe Wright. R. C. DeLoach, Elmo Branch, Edd Knight, Houston Bennett, O. K. Jackson, Ed Miller, Ben Ricks and Joe Ricks.
