Mary Lucille Bender, 86, of Cobb Island died Aug. 30, 2010, at Genesis Elder Care, La Plata.
Mrs. Bender was a homemaker and had lived in Newtown Village, Bel Alton and Cobb Island.
Born Aug. 12, 1924, in Gaithersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter West and the late Jennie Owen West.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Richard Bender.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Bender of Houston, Texas, Joseph Bender of Pennsylvania and James Robert Bender of Cobb Island; daughter, Mary Jane McClaufand of Houston; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Deacon Walter Rourke will officiate. Graveside service and burial will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap, Pa.
