He is survived by his wife, Valerie Roberson Abernathy of Russellville; one son, Justin Michael Abernathy of Russellville, AR; one daughter, Heather Leann Abernathy of Russellville, AR; his mother, Margaret Abernathy Lathrop of Nashville and three sisters, Willie Ann Abernathy of Russellville, Mary Pennington of Locksburg and Linda Hankins of Atkins.
Funeral service was February 25, 1999 at the Pottsville Holiness Church with Rev. James Ketchum and Leroy Muncy officiating. Burial was in Birta Cemetery, near Ola, by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Pallbearers were Leroy Muncy, Randy Campbell, Gary Smith, Stanley Hunt, Greg Hunt and Jerry Hankins.
