__Leone Carney, 100, formerly of 100 First Ave. NE, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, in Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion, from complications of age. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by the Rev. Karl Glovik. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Stewart Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
__Survivors include a son, Leo J. Carney Jr. of Rio Hondo, Texas.
__Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Irene Carney of Hamilton, Ohio, six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
__Leone was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Melvin; and a daughter-in-law, Mildred Carney.
__Leone was born Sept. 18, 1897, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Maria Burke Gibson. She married Leo Joseph Carney Sr. on Aug. 2, 1921, in Davenport. He died July 26, 1986. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Business College and attended two years at Coe College. Leone was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sanctuary Society, St. Margaret's Circle, Woman's Club of Cedar Rapids, Past President of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and a Charter member of Catholic Daughters of America.
