Rev. Samuel Hopkins graduated from Yale in 1718.In 1720 he was 2nd pastor of West Springfield's First Congregational Church.On June 28,1727 he married Esther Edwards in Windsor,CT.Rev. Hopkins is given credit for introducing maple sugar to the public in 1752.He wrote an account of the Indian way of making it in a published pamphlet(pg 138 of West Springfield Centennial Book)
