Frances L. Lamkin, 89, of Slater, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 19, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at Slater Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Lowell Moore officiating. Burial was in Slater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aaron Boston, Steven Fornshell, Andrew Murphy, Jesse Murphy, Bradley Cain and Justin Winkler. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Sept. 18, 1919, in rural Slater, she was the daughter of late Eugene and Lelah Frances Fizer. On July 13, 1936, she married Emmett Murphy, who preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1953. On Oct. 23, 1955, in Slater, she married Guy N. Lamkin, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1988. She was a member of Slater Assembly of God Church. She retired from Banquet Foods in Marshall after 16 years of service.
She is survived by one son, Gerald Murphy and his wife, Nancy, of rural Slater; one daughter, Jeanette Holst and her husband, Mike, of rural Glasgow; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Hains and Kathryn Winkler; two brothers; and one sister.
