Susan was the daughter of James and Sarah Cherry. She was born on June 30, 1867 in Angeline, Texas. She grew up in Milam, Texas. She married Frances "Frank" Marian Morris on October 22, 1885. The couple had 5 children including Robert, James, Jewel, Myrtle and Gracie. She died of cancer on May 17, 1934 while staying with her son Calvin and his wife Georgia in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
