Deceased Name: CHARLTON L. BROWN

WILLIAMSBURG - Charlton Lafayette Brown, 67, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.

Mr. Brown was a native of Timmonsville, S.C., and a Williamsburg resident for 34 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was also a member of Oak Grove Masonic Lodge No. 430 A.F. & A.M., Timmonsville.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Brown served in the 68th Signal Air Warning Battalion and earned an Eamet Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and a Victory Medal. He retired as co-owner of Brown's Barber Shop after 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Powell Brown; one daughter, June Rebecca Lynn of Dike; two sons, Samuel Carlton Brown and Ernie Alton Brown, both of Williamsburg; three sisters, Lela Mae Crosland of Bennettsville, S.C., Eva Lou Crould of Cheraw, S.C., and Madge Frye of Timmonsville; four brothers, Melvin B. Brown of Cheraw, S.C., Olie B. Brown of Charleston, S.C., David B. Brown of Baker, La., and Claude B. Brown of Williamsburg; three grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Grace Baptist Church by Dr. Thomas Powers. Burial will be in Williamsburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Williamsburg Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to York County Rescue Squad Station 3, Hubbard Lane, Williamsburg 23185, or Williamsburg Christian Academy, 312 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg 23185.
