While living on the Weide farm, Mary fell in love with Russian immigrant John M Neufeld, who had been hired as a farm hand. They married and had 4 children. Tragically, Mary died shortly after the birth of their youngest son Albert, in 1917. She is buried near her husband and parents in Turkey Creek Cemetery, Woodson County.
