C. T. Bales, who was visiting his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Schwartz, of this city, died very suddenly Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock of congestion of the bowels and stomach. The old gentlemen was sick but a few hours. He was 74 years old and made his home with his son near Lafayette, Ind. Short funeral services were held at the parsonage of Rev. J. H. Cowell at 11 o’clock Friday, after which the remains were taken on the 12:24 passenger to Indiana for burial.
