William Ridgeway b. Jan. 18, 1810, Hangingford Creek, Lincoln Co., Ky, the son of Ausburn and Jane (Phelps/Felps) Ridgeway. They moved to Sangamon Co. Illinois, and William later moved moved to Iowa. His brother James went to Oregon in 1850, took DLC 1959 and died in Lebanon, Linn Co.; he operated the 1st ferry across the Santiam at Lebanon, and Ridgeway Butte was named for him. In 1864, William crossed the plains to Oregon settling in Lebanon, Linn Co.,in 1865 and living there until his death in 1895. He married Elizabeth Ann Lucas Feb 14 1833; she died about 1842-44, after having childdren Thomas, Abraham, Sarah, John Henry and William. He married 2nd Sarah Ann Dannals (1822-1890) and they had children in Oregon: James Harvey, Lucinda Ann, Rebecca Jane, Daniel, Enoch, Mahala Adeline, Reuben, Uriah Perry, Mary Elizabeth, David Gourley, Washington Owen, and possibly one or two more daughters. He and Sarah Ann were buried in the Old Pioneer Cemetery.
