First marriage to Ebenezer Bennett Joles Jan 1816. He died 3 June 1830 in the state of Maryland. This information was gleaned from pension record of Damaris' second husband, William Francis whom she married 1 Jun 1840 in Girard, Erie, PA. We have no proof as of Aug 2013 who the children of Ebenezer and Damaris were; however, I think there is a strong possibility the three youngest children attributed to Ebenezer's parents might possibly be children of Damaris and Ebenezer. Their names are Clarissa, Nelson, and Nancy. THIS IS NOT VERIFIED so I am not changing my records until I can prove it. Clarissa is best documented and she was married prior to Damaris' second marriage. With William Francis, Damaris had Ransom N. Francis and Shepherd Francis. She also helped him raise his large family of children still at home. Damaris' parents, Charles Vaughn and Elizabeth Morgan lived with the Francis family in 1850 along with a brother, Samuel, who is listed on the census as "idiotic." Damaris provides for her brother Samuel in her will.

Film 911,843 Obituary: In the Francis neighborhood on Nov. 25th, 1878, Mrs. Damaris Francis, widow of the late William Francis, aged 82 years. 12/10/1878.Will signed 23 May 1878; registered Nov 1878 at Girard, Erie, PA: Will of Damaris Franics; names her brother, Samuel Vaughn and her son, Ransom N. Francis: "I give and bequeath unto my son Ransom N. all of my property of every kind and description...in consideration that he shall give my brother, Samuel Vaughn, a good and stable support during his life and provide him with necessary food and clothing and all necessary medical attendance and after his death to give him a decent burial." (Damaris "x'd" her mark. Witnessed A.R. Smith and Henry Ball. She is buried in Francis Cemetery in Girard.
