Died: Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Thelma L. Barks, 81, Central, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

Born Aug. 10, 1929, in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Taylor and Icy Pearl Gibson Garmon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Carl and Marion Garmon, and a sister, Lucille Garmon.

Survivors include her husband, Earl C. Barks; a daughter, Linda Ferree of Central; three brothers, Cecil and Paul Garmon, both of Central, and Don Garmon of New Albany; four sisters, Wilma Goldman of Central, Sylvia (Dolly) Gunther of Corydon, Jean Crosslin of Portland, Tenn., and Oletta Harl of Greenville; and a grandson.

Visitation: Thursday, Sept. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 3, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Friday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in the Central Cemetery.

Officiant: Brother Vince Garmon.

Pallbearers: Shawn, Kent, Wayne and Tony Garmon, Scotty Orme, Mike Beanblossom, Mark Crosslin and Paul Barks.

Honorary pallbearers: David Garmon, Duane Yocum and Dan Sutherland.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Arthritis Foundation.
