Randolph--Mrs. Mary Dow Johnson, widow of James G. Johnson, died at her home in Randolph Thursday night at 11:45, aged nearly 87 years. Surviving are two children, Marc D. Johnson of Randolph and Mrs. Ruth Johnson Tompkins, wife of Dr. Carl S. Tompkins of Buffalo. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of Albert G. and Freelove Mason Dow and was half sister of the late Charles M. Dow of Jamestown and niece of the late Levant M. Mason of Jamestown. She was born June 13, 1842 and in point of residence was probably the oldest resident of Randolph, having lived here 84 years. She was the last surviving member of the A.G. Dow family. Up to about two years ago, when she broke her hip, Mrs. Johnson had been unusually well and took an active part in many of the affairs of the village and of the Congregational church, of which she was a member. Since her accident she had spent part of her time with her daughter in Buffalo but had not been in her own home in Randolph during the past winter. ... Burial was in Randolph Cemetery.
