Otho Alexander McAliley was born in rural Gibson Co, Tennessee, the second child of Richard McAliley and his wife, Ann L. McLean (aka Elmira Ann McLean). Richard, was a well-known farmer in Gibson Co., Tennessee, who had been widowed.
Richard McAliley died when Otho was about age two; his widowed mother moved the family to Panola Co., Mississippi, where they lived near the McLean relatives. Later they moved to Brazos Co., Texas.
Otho married Mary Ida Locke October 28, 1886. The couple had eight known children: Luther, Ethel, Caroline, Roy, Vernon, Ida, and Ira.
Otho worked as a farmer. The family eventually moved to Comanche Co.
1903 Otho was left a widower with young children when his wife died shortly after the birth of her twins Ira and Ida.
He remained in Comanche Co., and died there in 1949.
