He was survived by his wife, Edna; 1 son, James of Batchtown; 1 daughter, Paula Zimmerman of Fairview Heights; 5 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Anna Franke of Louisiana, Lincoln County, Missouri, and Minnie Hanneken of Kane, Greene County, Illinois.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was also preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Thomas.
Visitation was held after 4:30 p.m. on 09 Sep 1984 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown.
Thomas' wife, Edna, passed away in 1999 and was buried next to him.
