Flora May RICHARDS was born in Juda, Wisconsin in 1886. She married Andrew Godfrey SWANSON on February 11, 1903 in Moline, Illinois. She was the mother of two sons: Gerald Godfrey Seaford SWANSON (12/3/1903) and (Carl) "Vernon" Seaford SWANSON (2/7/1912).
She was employed for 10 years as chief cook at Moline High School, retiring in 1954. She died in her sleep (at 3:20 a.m.) of congestive heart failure in Kewanee, Illinois. She is buried alongside her husband and two sons.
Flora May Swanson was known as "Ma" to her loving family. There is no more loving, generous, or caring person than her. She was an excellent cook, loved babies, daffodils and the color green...and of course her entire family very, very, much! She embodied unconditional love and is still missed to this day!
