Effie Weaver, 86 Final Rites Held April 5
Funeral services for Mrs. Roy (Effie) Weaver, 86, of Blockton, held April 5 at the Blockton Christian Church, were officiated by Pastor Glen Mitchell and Rev. George W. Swan. Mrs. Weaver died April 2, 1976 in the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr. Interment was at the Athelstan Cemetery, Athelstan, Iowa.
Effie Amanda, daughter of John and Margaret Adams, was born at Athelstan, Iowa May 16, 1889.
She lived in Blockton and grew to maturity in Taylor County where she attended the Works School and Mt. Zion Church.
On March 5, 1905 she was united in marriage to Roy Weaver at her parents' home northwest of Athelstan and they lived in Blockton and surrounding communities.
To this union three children were born, Raymond, Freda and John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, September 4, 1974; parents; sons, Raymond and John, and two grandsons, Billy Cornett and Joseph Cornett.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Freda Marie Smith, St. Paul, Minnesota; Elbert Adams, brother, Banning, California; Myrtle Fields, sister, Savannah, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Christian Church, Blockton, and American Legion Auxiliary.
She was s kind and considerate wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
