Mrs. Elizabeth Hibbs, wife of William H. Hibbs, superintendent of the Illinois Watch company, died Sunday morning at St. John's hospital. Mrs. Hibbs, who was 57 years old, has been a resident of Springfield for more than a quarter century.
Funeral will be held tomorrow at the residence. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Until several months ago, Mrs. Hibbs had been in perfect health, and her death comes as a shock to her friends.
Before her marriage she was Miss Elizabeth Hartley of Lancaster, Pa. There she grew to young womanhood, and on Nov. 2, 1897, was married to Mr. Hibbs, also a resident of Lancaster. Later, they moved to this city, and for a number of years have made their home at Converse avenue.
To this union were born two children, Emily and Mabel. The latter is a teacher at the Converse school. Emily, now Mrs. L. A. Davis, makes her home at Tulsa, Okla.
Mrs. Hibbs is survived by her husband, two daughters, and a sister, Mrs. Emily Villee of Newark, N. J.
Had Mrs. Hibbs lived, Mr. and Mrs. Hibbs would have celebrated their thirty-second wedding anniversary on November 2.
